Antique Rockingham Teapot – Circa 1860s

This richly glazed brown teapot is a fine example of 19th-century Rockingham pottery, a style first popularized in England and quickly adopted in the United States by the mid-1800s. Rockingham pieces are known for their deep, mottled glaze and embossed decorative scenes, making them both practical household items and works of art. By the 1860s, Rockingham wares had become a staple in American homes, often used daily but also treasured as table showpieces.

This teapot features a raised design of a woman at a well, framed with ornate detail. It retains its original domed lid. Please note: the lid has visible damage, and there is some wear along the rim consistent with its age.

Even with these imperfections, it remains a striking historical piece—over 160 years old—and an affordable way to own a bit of early American pottery history.
