If you love the look of a conifer but want something softer and more graceful, Soft Serve® False Cypress is an excellent choice.
Its foliage has a fine, feathery texture and a fresh green color that stays attractive year-round. The plant develops a naturally elegant, pyramidal shape, so it gives the garden structure without looking stiff or overly formal.
Soft Serve® is hardy in USDA Zones 4–8 and typically grows about 6–10 feet tall and 5–6 feet wide. It performs best in sun to part sun and prefers moist, well-drained soil.
It works beautifully as a specimen plant, in foundation beds, mixed borders, or planted in groups where you want evergreen screening and four-season interest.
Pair it with hydrangeas, roses, ornamental grasses, or colorful deciduous shrubs. Its soft texture makes an especially good contrast against broad leaves and flowering plants.
